Glad you're okay, but...

Even if every cell phone in America was melted down tomorrow there'd still 
be inattentive, careless, reckless, immature, and drunken drivers careening 
down the roads in SUV's, high-power sports cars and Aspires.

I suspect it's more of a driver problem than a cell phone problem.

You oughtta come drive in the Boston area.  It'd curl your hair.
