The Lowrider is certainly not the typical SHO. I'm not telling anyone else to do what I
am doing. I change the oil every 3K miles with dyno oil.

It never had the cam covers off until 201K miles. Vadim was sure the cams would be
trashed, like one of you describes. They were like new. I used to have pictures....they
are around somewhere, but I can't get them on the new website. Lots of you have seem
them already, when the old site was going. When we checked clearances, exactly ONE valve
was .001 too loose....that is, it was supposed to be at .012 and it was at .014. We took
it down to .012 with a used shim from the SHOShop kit I had borrowed. Half of the others
were at spec, and half were .001 too tight or too loose....I left them alone. It won't
have the covers off again.

I can't say why the one engine mentioned was totally trashed. Oil is supposed to prevent
that. That has to be the reason....something to do with oil changing, or the lack of it,
or cheap oil.

The Lowrider's engine won't be gone into again, front or top (or rear). I'll check the
subsequent cars every few years. It's a good feeling....turn the key and know it'll make
it non-stop across the country every time I start it.

I'd say the ticking originally mentioned is the injectors doing what they are supposed to
do. I hear them on L.

George ....250K miles tonight on the way home.
