Oops, George is right, I was thinking of it the other way around. If you file 
for traffic school they can't reduce the fine, if you go to court they can 
either reduce the fine/points or let you take traffic school. 
<< That part isn't true.  The offense determines whether school is available. 
 I'd bet it is
 for this offense.  If you don't have any other schools logged in the last 18 
months, you
 can go to school, pay the fine, and have a clean record.  You have to plead 
guilty and
 pay, or pay the fine through the mail...same thing, financially...to be able 
to go to
 school.
