Frank:
I have done two remove/installs with the ATX.
DO NOT forget the VSS!! I had to remove and install this after it was in the
car. Not fun. Make sure it's new one. Make sure you have a speedometer gear
on it too. If your are getting a rebuilt unit reuse your old one. Install
the sheet metal heat shield. It is needed.
I would get somebody to help. At least stab the converter and bell housing
bolts. Double check the bell housing bolts in 30 days or so. Both times I
found 1 or 2 bolts had loosened up.
I don't know if you want to do more maintenance but everything is apart in
the front suspension. Subframe Bushings? Steering rack, sway bar
bushings, any P/S hose's leaking? Lower Control Arms. I always get an
alignment after taking the subframe off and on. I like to adjust the
subframe as far forward as I can using the alignment holes and two steel pry
bars.
Of course change the rear main seal and carrier gasket even if they are not
leaking now. Sometimes the stress of removing and installing the Y-pipe can
cause some O2 sensor failures.
