Well my buddy and I changed the timing belt in my newly acquired
93 MTX with 126k miles. I have no information on it's previous
maintenance. Can anyone confirm if this is the original timing belt
(has japanese writing so I am guessing yes)?

I had sort of forgotton alot from when we did this on my 90
about 4 years ago. We had one problem / scare - we removed the
crank sensor to get the middle timing belt cover out, as there was
not enough slack in the CPS wire to move it out of the way. Tried
maneuvering the other side connector through the intake to give us
slack but no way. Later we saw if we snaked it to the other side of
the fuel rail, it would go through. But in any case, I had never removed
the CPS and recalled it had to be gapped, so I searched archives, gapped
it at .03", and hoped we didn't screw up the sensor.

So with timing belt in, before we put everything back together, I just
pushed the
crossover tube onto the intake, plugged in the DIS, just to see if it would
fire.
Cranked and cranked but nothing! After numerous pondering (and the dilemma
of needing a new CPS on a saturday night), I realized the DIS module is
grounded
through the intake. So I just *bolted* down the crossover tube, and bingo!
Sigh of
relief!
