Yeah, after the first few responses that stated this, I went out and looked
at my car. I must admit, I never really noticed it before, but the two are
quite a bit different. Was never something I paid very much attention to.

Ron, you are among the gods in the SHO pantheon.  Today you fell from a
state of perfect grace.  Sorry, my friend, but a moment's glance shows that
in Gen1, the taillights were entirely below the trunklid edge, which was
straight across.  In Gen2, the cut line of the trunk is bumped up around the
rear lamps.  Park a Gen1 and a Gen2 aside each other, it's instantly
obvious.

I happen to have a Gen1 trunk lid and a Gen2 spoiler in the garage (which I
would like to mate on my 91 if they'd fit).  Just went out and did a test
fit.  It works.
