An OHV engine with mechanical lifters can be MORE maintenance intense than an 
OHC with mechanical lifters.  My experience with small blocks and mechanical 
lifters is that you have that many more pieces in the valvetrain to fail.  
The ends will break on pushrods, the ends of rocker arms will split, the 
lifters themselves will wear, and the adjustment studs will break or pull out 
of the heads.  This would be tough on a daily-driver.
