[Shotimes] carpet dye?

While I have the seat out, the extent of the previous neglect is now glaring at me. Something was spilled under both seats that bleached the black to this white / purple-ish color. I'm wanting to clean the carpet and then dye it black, but never having done this before am not sure if the results will be worth my time. Thoughts?
