Just like balanced tires on a worn suspension won't usually form cups in the tread,
worn struts won't, by themselves, induce a high speed shake.

Ya gotta go to the source to find a shake in a car at highway speed. The tires are
out of balance. That's the beginning, middle, and end of high speed vibrations in
any car. This is disregarding the balance problems a driveshaft can induce in a
front engine-rear drive car....we don't have that problem.

Tires can also be perfectly balanced on a computer balance machine, but will still
shake on the car. That's because there are more things on the car that spin than
can be balanced on a machine. You have to balance the rotors and hubs, in addition
to the wheel and tire. Thats why tires USED to be balanced on the car at any
service station, back in the 60s and 70s. I really can't understand why it isn't
done anymore....rotating assemblies on new cars are no more balanced from the
factory than they were back then.

You have to balance the wheels on the car to get everything perfectly smooth.

It's a fairly complicated operation....my balancing instructions will be headed for
the FAQ, and are supposed to be published in the summer/fall edition of the SHOClub
magazine, currently being mailed.
