[Shotimes] Digital Camera; Which one of two should I choose?

Just a thought on digital cameras. I bought the Sony
DSC-F707 Cyber Shot 5.0 Meg camera. I needed near pro
quality to take cover shot quality pics for the SHO Club
magazine and the camera has not disappointed. Comes with a
great 10X zoom in a Carl Zeiss lens. Built in flash and I
love the lens that moves separate from the body so I can
hold the camera way low or high without having to lie down
or stand on a ladder.

Any manual mode you want and several automatic modes that
are not that hard to learn once I started thinking like a
computer geek rather than a 35mm camera geek!

Used to cost $1000+ with discount places selling for a
couple hundred less. Now Sony has lowered their factory
price, so it might be near $600 or maybe less (haven't
looked, don't want to think about how much extra I paid!)
for a near Pro outfit. That means they are ready to bring
out a new version even better at the $1000 price point.
This Sony has been out unchanged for about 3 years? That is
a lifetime in the camera biz, so I figure it must be pretty
good to live that long. All the pro's I talk to at auto
events recommend it if you can't afford the multi thousand
dollar pro units.

Depending on your needs, this is a super camera. I need 8
1/2 X 11 high quality, so a 3 meg camera just won't do it.
But for internet work, 3 meg is almost overkill. So match
the camera to your most demanding need and buy accordingly.
Nothing hurts worse than saving a couple hundred to find
out the camera won't do what you want, then it is worth
almost nothing for resale or trade!
