Even when toying with the Maxima, I never rode the clutch out (and thus never smelled burnt material). I just shifted normally into 3rd after roaring through 1st and 2nd, and it started slipping. Since I bought the car (and have been through 2 clutch jobs already), this is the first time it's not the classic TOB / PP fingers failure.

I love hearing this stuff after I do an "upgrade". Before I buy, all I hear is it's a nice unit. After I start having problems, we have the heat transfer discussion Hrinsin added to a while back and now this. The Fidanza is basically the same setup, right? What about South Bend's aluminum flywheel? With any, is the issue friction material, clamping power or both?
