[Shotimes] Sad, really

Have you heard of the DELETE key??
Frankly, I find this to be a lame excuse. I travel for business, and I will
come home and find 600-1000 messages from the various SHO lists. I can blow
through them rather quickly for topics I have no interest in.
This list (SHOtimes) acts as a tavern list much of the time, which is fine
with me. If all topics were strictly on SHO topics it would (1) be rather
boring, and (2) would only be a few messages a day, as there isn't much new
to talk about.
You are the one who comes up with long posts for simple questions. Chill
out.

Subject: [Shotimes] Sad, really
I have really enjoyed the SHOtimes mailing list over the last few years, but
off topic discussion has become too much of a problem for me. I don't mind a
little banter among friends, but this is a rather large group of friends,
and
the banter is nowhere near "little". Too many people are double-sending
message, cross-posting to TechSHO, and holding long, drawn-out conversations
that don't pertain to SHOs or our relationships. I've never cared that
someone
asks about different cars, but the conversations go on for weeks, and
another
100 messages are added because of it. On every other list I subscribe to,
the
same thing happens, except the responders talk off-list to keep from
flooding
everyone else with unnecessary emails. I have not seen the list owner
keeping
after this, so I assume it is considered acceptable now. Unfortunately, I no
longer have the interest to constantly keep after my filters (so few people
here put OT in the subject line). 40% of messages being OT on a daily basis
is
unreal and unbearable for a list of this size. I am unsubscribing from
SHOtimes. Anyone that wants a good, SHO-related discussion can find me on
TechSHO as long as the OT cross-posting is kept to a minimum.
Which reminds me: TechSHO was opened to allow for SHO-only discussion. Why
are
we getting OT cross-posting? I won't name any names, but I received FOUR of
the same OT message, from the same person. They posted twice (for
insurance?),
and posted to both SHOtimes and TechSHO, so I got four emails. That is nuts.
Nuts seems to be the norm lately. I'm not a squirrel.
