Hey Everyone,
I am having never-ending problems with the front rotors on my car - they seem
to warp if I even look at them weird. I have gone through at least 6 sets of
rotors on my car, from the cheap ones to pretty expensive ones, and none of
them last longer than a couple of months without going to hell. I have also
gone through about as many sets of pads trying to track down a brake problem
that I have had since I bought the car that was FINALLY fixed this summer by
replacing ALL of the calipers, lines, brake booster, and master cylinder.
Now the brakes FINALLY operate as they should, but the rotors have warped on
me once again, and these are the Napa lifetime ones. I am now wondering if I
have a bent axle or bad cv joint that might be causing one side to warp real
quickly, as I have fought with tire balance issues and vibrations since I
bought the car. This has been mostly resolved by a good tire balance, solid
subframe bushings, and the replacing of a slightly bent wheel, but I still
have a slight vibration that comes and goes above 70 (attributed this to
possible road surfaces). There are no other signs of bad CV joints, as they
have never made any clicking or grinding noises, even in sharp parking lot
manuevers. The car has also been to a couple of track days where the brakes
have been REALLY abused (the second time so bad that there was no pads left
and the brakes were on fire when I came in), but the rotors never warped.
I know SHOs are notoriously hard on rotors, but this is rediculous! My
friend's '93 with the smaller stock brakes doesn't have rotor issues, and he
drives his car really hard. ANY ideas or suggestions would be greatly
appreciated!!!!
Thanks in advance!
