I have checked the nuts on the endlinks a couple of times, and they have
been staying tight - I basically tightened them as much as I could with a
wrench. There is a very slight knocking sound that sometimes accompanies
the vibration, but it's not loud at all. A nut backed off on my friend's
'93 after doing some suspension work, and you knew exactly what it was when
it started banging around!
The car has 93K on it, and the front wheel bearings are original, but feel
tight and show no obvious signs of being worn. I thought it was pretty rare
for a front wheel bearing to fail on our SHOs, especially with less than
100K. The other SHOs I work on have 120K+ and are running the original
wheel bearings without a problem. Balljoints are about six months old -
replaced when I replaced the front control arms.
Thanks again for the help - I am leaning more towards the endlinks being the
culprit all of the time.
