> 1. Oil? (brand or synthetic vs. convention, take your pick)
I always use Pennzoil Dino-oil. Have had good luck with it in all of my
cars.
> > 2. Oil Filters?
I believe in using the same filter that the car came with. That way if the
engine falls out under warranty the dealer can't blame your oil filter.
There are filter tests on the web, such as on v8sho.com if you want to get
picky about it.
> > 3. Gasoline? (brand or octane rating, take your pick)
Whatever is nearby at the time. Mostly Shell these days.
> > 4. T-stats?
My generic thermostat has outlasted the Ford thermostat that it replaced. I
don't think you can go wrong with a Stant.
> > 5. Beer?
I'm not a beer expert and don't drink much, but I like MGD.
> > 6. Generation of SHO?
I have a Gen I and a Gen III, but I would think that the best were the Gen
II's. However these are all minor points and it is hard to say that one is
better than another by very much.
> > 7. Y-pipes?
Sorry, never got around to changing this.
> > 8. Mufflers?
Or this.
I was going to ask why there wasn't a question about tires, or batteries, or
cloth vs. leather, or exterior colors, or... I guess we don't want to start
"tirewars" or "paintwars" again.
As far as batteries- I had very bad luck with Sears DieHards. My last one
stranded me near a store that sold Interstate so I put one of those in. That
battery actually lasted for a long time, so I'm sold on them now.
My Gen I has cloth/leather and it has held up very well. It is not cold in
winter and cooler than leather in summer. My Gen III has all cloth. I would
have preferred leather for its classier appearance but didn't have a choice,
and this way I have the comfort advantages of cloth.
