Probably the Camshaft Identification Sensor, aka CID. Possibly the
Crank Sensor (aka CPS or CKP) but you'd probably experience stalling
problems.
If it gets really bad the CID will cause a code 214. Just because
there's no code doesn't mean it's not bad. Relatively cheap part,
relatively easy to install.
Just saw a post from Al Fitzpatrick. He's selling a new Motorcraft CID:
