"(The CID is) mounted on the front of the rear head"

As most of us know, the CID is mounted on the 'right-hand side' or
'passenger-side' of the engine. Why do some of you call that side of the
engine the 'front'? Is this a personal thing or does Ford also call this
the 'front' of the engine?

Our 3.0/3.2/3.4 engines were never installed in a RWD vehicle, so why is the
'right' side called the 'front' and the 'left' side called the 'rear'. This
is not only silly but it's just plain stupid. In the future when there are
no more RWD vehicles will we continue with this sillyness?

To me, the side closest to the radiator is the 'front' and the side closest
to the firewall is the 'rear', regardless of whether it's a FWD or RWD
vehicle.

So, my SHO has a 'front' and a 'rear' cylinder head (and my V-8 Jeep GC has
a 'left' and a 'right' cylinder head). The water pump, CID, timing belt, &
DIS module are on the 'right' or passenger side of the engine. The
flywheel, clutch, thermostat, and throttle body are on the 'left' or driver
side of the engine.

Comments and corrections, please.
