And, in reality, any new part carries a risk, also.
When I get to the stage where the SHO is not a daily driver, and is used as
a play car, spending the large dollars for a build tranny with a Quaife
would probably be on the radar screen. For now, and for most folks I
suspect, used parts are a very acceptable alternative.

A used tranny is NOT a crapshoot.
Any used part carries some risk with it. My 90 SHO with 156k miles has
never
had any trans. problems, and the trans. shifts now just like it did when
new.
I would think a used trans from the JY with moderate miles would be a good
bet.
