I don't know if it's that simple.  If I remember correctly, on the Gen2, the
positive cable, alternator wire and the cable from the fuse box are all
spliced together.  I guess you could chop off the cable between the starter
and batter and cap it off, then just run a new cable from the battery to
starter.  Come to think of it, I think Kurt M.  had to do something similar
on his car, perhaps he'll chime in.
