Yeah, they ran well once they got the 428 CJ, then the 429 (at least the
Torino and the Cyclone). Have to admit that the GM and Mopar intermediates
were better looking, though.
The 440 (& 340) Mopars were excellent street machines. Great power, and very
unfussy for tuning. The hydraulic lifter Chevy motors were never too strong,
and the solid-lifter Chevies needed regular tuning, plus good gears to run
well. The strong Gm cars in the later '60s were the GS and the W30. Chevy
and Pontiac kinda faded a bit.
