There are kits that allow you to swap the GM 3.4L Twin Dual Cam (TDC) engine
into the Fiero. But, this engine was not produced in high numbers, and like
our SHO engines it is complex and maintenance intensive.
FWIW, the 3.4L OHV engine from an early 90s Camaro/Firebird is a direct drop
in. The only "modification" that must be done to the RWD Camaro 3.4L so it
fits the "FWD" Fiero is - the starter motor mounting holes must be redrilled
so the starter can be turned 180 deg.
The 2.8 / 3.1 / 3.4 are all the same engine family and uprgrading from 2.8
to 3.4 gets you about 40hp for a total of 175-180hp.
