If it's a newly rebuilt engine, it could just be the difference in tolerances. "Tighter" bearings, piston rings, etc.

Or your starter could just be on its way out. I've replaced mine twice, and both times right before it died, while cranking it seemed slower and at a different pitch.

Well the new motors in, it runs good, but when I go to start it it seems to 
crank over a lot longer than it used to. Any ideas why it would do this? The 
starters doing it's thing, the power is there to keep it going, it's getting 
fuel.......? Any ideas? Thanks everyone -Steve Bowen
