There were really two 429s. One was the regular wedge head that powered most
of the normal Ford vehicles, and later became the 460.
The other was the Boss 429. Totally different, staggered valves IIRC. The
one thing I do remember was watching a mechanic at the Ford dealer (where I
worked in the summers) putting the heads back on one. The "head gasket" was
a collection of various sizes of o-rings for each of the openings. I suspect
that a Boss 429 is probably about as rare as the SOHC 427.

How did the 429 compare? Wasn't its design influenced by the Hemi?
