I've got the Michelin Arctic Alpin on my '93.  I've been using them for 3
years now and still a lot of tread.  Hell of a snow tire, not quite good for
autocross though.  If you keep them pumped up they will do fine for winter.
If you want handling get the Michelin Artic Pilots H rated and the same
tread as the Alpins.  A very thin sidewall tire that requires +50lbs of
pressure.  This is what I use on my '97.
