Isn't that the truth....it goes beyond Ford....the entire US industry has cheapened all
its automatics so much that they aren't dependable at all after a couple of years of use.
 Imagine not being interested in a new Chrysler 300M or an LHS (as long as one liked the
rest of the car) because in 50K miles one would be putting a transmission in it.

I was at an all Ford Truck parts yard a few days ago getting some body trim parts for the
F-350.  I asked if there was a later model automatic I could put in it to get some
economy on the highway.  It is an '87 460 CID with the C-6 3 speed auto.  The guy told me
to stick with my original tranny.....none of the newer ones (that would bolt up to it)
were dependable enough to put in....I should keep it and go with an external o/d gearset
like I have been planning on.

It's disgusting.....!!
