Brian,
Been there twice. All you need to do it replace the a/c compressor clutch/pulley, not the compressor itself. Took me about 4 hours. The clutch/pulley costs around $90 at NAPA, or $140 from Ford. Only special tools you'll need is a set of snap ring pliers. The first time I had this done at a shop 4 years ago, cost me $400, $140 for the part, $260 for labor, and they only charged me for 4 hours labor @$65hr, took them 5 hours, first time they worked on a SHO.

I had to replace it again last year, on Halloween. While the kids were out getting candy, I was putting the car back together so I could get to work the next day.

If you want to do this yourself, let me know offlist and I'll give you some more detailed instructions.

OK, the '93 is kinda DEAD.

The alternator is NOT charging the battery, the noise that I think was the
compressor probably was - if the defroster or AC is on, that thing rumbles
and throws sparks.

Can I just replace the AC compressor, or does it require a lot more work
than that?

What all is entailed in replacing the serpentine belt?

What is this belt's official name, so I can order one from Torrie?
