The Miller was 2.3L back then, a nightmare in its early days.
The 2.5L info
Base Number of Cylinders: 6
Base Engine Size: 2.5 liters
Base Engine Type: V6
Horsepower: 170 hp
Max Horsepower: 5800 rpm
Torque: 160 ft-lbs.
Max Torque: 4800 rpm
Drive Type: FWD
Sounds an awful lot like the 2.5L I have in my 2000 Mazda, so yes, it probably is the same motor we found in the Probe/MX-6s back then.
My 2.5L has been flawless, but it is not a dragster by any thought. My 626 is the same size as the older Millenias and I can tell you the gas mileage is great and it is a dream on the highway.
Just don't try racing that Kia Sportage lined up with you at a light.

the duratech and has a much higher specific output (more power.) It may be
that the Duratech was also one of the choices. I think the Miller Cycle
engine was smaller, 2.2 or 2.3 maybe.
