I had a chip in my old windshield.  State Farm will pay to fix a small chip,
with
no deductible from you.  Before I had a chance to do that, the chip vented into
a large crack.  It did it when I had to partially drive over the curb to get
out of
my driveway because somebody partially blocked my driveway.  As soon as
the body twisted some, I heard that telltale sound of a window cracking.  And
to top it off, I had to pay for it myself because my deductible was higher than
the cost of replacing it.

So to sum up, getting the body to twist can definitely cause a chip in a
windshield
to turn into a crack.
