[Shotimes] max performance tire

My friend has the Kumho MX mounted on his RSX. They are by far the
loudest tires I have ever heard, they sound like 33" mud tires low on
air. The grip is decent, but he can't wait to get rid of them because
of the noise. His coilover suspension might have something to do with
the noise, but its much quieter with his snow tires on the car.

That was me with the ES 100s trying to get out of Marks driveway, I got
snow tires when I got home.

$100 can get you decent tires, albeit on sale. AVS Intermediates and the
A520s were under $100, and the ES100 has gotten good reviews. Early
reviews
on the Kumho MX are also quite good (one guy likes them better than the
SP8000s he used to get) and they are around $100/tire.
Guess I wouldn't even consider the KDWs Max performance. It seems the
KDs
are the real performance tire, and the KDW/KDWS are a cut below
(although
still very good).
For Summer only, in the $100 price range, it appears that either the
ES100
or MX would be a good way to go.

FWIW I wouldn't consider a sub $100 tire a "max" performance tire, most
of
the real sticky ones are above that. That being said, they (ES100)
appear
to be a decent tire for the buck, and I have considered a set for the 92
for
this summer. Last I saw they were around $97 shipped from discount
tires.
"Max" performance tires IMHO would be something like BFG g-force KDW, or
SO-3's, F1's, etc.
I did a quaife for a guy that had a set of ES100's on his 93, my
driveway
barely has a slop on it and it was all he could do to get out with a
quaife
in the snow. Took him awhile :) Pretty much any summer "Z" tire is
terrible in the snow though.
I still like the Dunlop SP8k's for the summer, good grip and
predictable,
$106 shipped, but with the 225/55's I can't get much mileage. The
225/50's
seem to wear much better, I believe one is made in japan and the other
in
europe or something.
