No offense to you Dave, but that is all wrong(I swear I'm not trying to sound
like an A-hole). The turbo coupe had single exaust from 83-86 whether it was
manual or auto, then in 87/88 they switched to dual exhaust for both
trannies. As for the power, the most stock power out of any TC was the 87/88
with 185 hp in the 5spd, not even close to the SVO's 215hp. The auto's had
less power in 87/88, around 155hp if I'm not mistaken, but they tried to make
up for it by adding a 3.73 gear into the 8.8 rear end instead of the 3.55
that was used in the 5spd.

As for the 5.0 tbirds intake, the upper is the same as a mustang(external
dimensions) but I'd bet it was more like the restricted '86 intake that was
on the mustang. Also I think they used a really mild cam. Haven't figured out
why yet but it'd be interesting to find out. -Steve Bowen

<< The Turbo Coupe came in two flavors. The five speed cars had dual exhaust
and the same power as the SVO did. The ATX Coupes had single exhaust and
less power, because the trans couldn't take it.

The T-Bird V8s never had the same power as the Mustang because they had more
restrictive intakes due to hood clearance issues. >>
