Your right, 260-270Hp and a lot more overall TQ is something that Ford could
have easily done.  John Hrinsin at this mark with his 3.0l motor and stock
heads/cams as I sure others are too.  If Ford would have EH the complete
intake (Contour SVT), used BBB, a larger MAF, used a real y-pipe, a better
cat-back (John's using Borla), revised the PCM programming a bit, it would
still be streetable like his SHO is.  Heck forget the 3.0l and lets go just
go with the 3.2l in the MTX with the above and we have more!

Then they would have had to add the 11.6 rotors up front from the beginning!

We've had long threads going back and forth as to whether the V6 could or
could not make 300hp.  I don't think it could in street trim (my opinion
only) but I think it could do 260 easily enough with a bit more attention to
intake and exhaust design.
