John Gentry came up with that technique...it's on his (quite excellent) website . 
It works fine on ATX cars, but will distort the dampers on MTX cars.  I tried it
first on my '90, and dinged the damper.....later tried it on a '94 ATX, and it works
good.

The two person-brake method is the way to go for an MTX if you have two
people....use a garage door frame, carpet, and a load spreading board if you only
have one person.
