George,

Anyone that knows me, knows that I fully understand your 
feelings for the lowrider.  My '89 is a member of the family 
and if something awful happened to it, I would be in the 
same fix you are.  180,000 miles and it has never let me 
down, even when the computer and cam/crank sensors were 
playing catch with the ignition for a few months after I 
bought it.  After Five clutches since I owned it (two before 
under the first two owners).

IF the car means that much, then fix it and don't worry what 
other people think.  Today, a good body shop can straighten 
almost anything so the alignment is factory good.  cosmetics 
can always be fixed.  New paint does wonders and while 
there, freshen the suspension and anything else it needs. 
Then take it out and enjoy it again...!
