[Shotimes] How can i remove a dent?

[nono hood]

Yesterday i was walking toward my car and noticed something funky about the 
hood, there was a big dent, and it looked as though it were the size of a 
basketball. asked my brother in law and he put his monster sized hand over 
and said it was definately a basketball bump. how can i get rid of this 
without taking it to a mechanic or body shop? i was thinking maybe a plunger 
or something like that,  any suggestions? thanks in advance :)
