Well, with using some washers out of my junk box, and a bit of my time, my
out-of-pocket repair cost was zero!!

It's a big deal for me today, as I am writing big enough checks to Uncle Sam
and the State of Michigan to buy a fleet of used SHOs!!

 My trunk latch did the same thing  I ended up taking it to a local body
shop
& having it welded back in place. they did a good job & it looks like it was
from the factory. They charged me about $75 if I remember right.
