[Shotimes] (OT) CTS-V in Detroit Free Press

Ryan Dudek & I tested out cars at the Auto Show. Since he is about the same
size as I am, I had him adjust the front seat, and I tried out the back
seat. The 330, WRX and Focus SVT 4-door had very acceptable back seat room
(I figured if I could fit, any passengers I would have would have no
issues). The WRX now has the moonroof available, and it has smaller
driving/footlights, which look better, IMHO. For the $20-30K range, the SVT
is a very nice deal at ~$21K loaded, but the WRX loaded at $25K is sweet.
Plus, it is track-ready (strip or road course) as-is.

VW line is very nice, also, but performance is my thing. For the near
future, this could be the ride for me. Looking out a few years, when the
finances get better, a real high-performance sedan fits the bill. From what
I've seen so far, the CTS-V ain't it.

I'm in much the same boat Ron. Trying to give Ford a chance, I went to look
at the Focus SVT. They wouldn't let me test drive it because it's a
"specialty" car, so I drove a ZX3 instead. Surprising room inside.
Smoother than the Audi 1.8T (don't remember the 1.8T in the VW being as
rough!), I was pleased, but I want more room and power than a Focus has to
offer. I'm looking at anything and everything in the sports sedan market.
Looked at the CL 6speed, but don't want to spend 30k. Same for the 325 and
A4 3.0. My choices now are the Jetta 1.8T and VR6, Mazda6, Accord V6 6
speed coupe (only 2 doors, but the size of a sedan), WRX (like you, I'd
prefer the wagon) I like the Mazda styling and it's got close ties to Ford.
Might be the most like the SHO less a little power and exclusivity.

I've got at least a few months before I buy something (I've been saying this
for 2 years...) so plenty of time to make up my mind. Part of the reason I
haven't bought is that I haven't fallen in love with something so much that
I wanted to get rid of my SHO and pick up a car payment yet.
