[Shotimes] Timing Belt/Timing chain

Why do you have such a problem with tradition? It's simply a
time-honored practice, right? The phrase "new tradition" is an
oxymoron, and doesn't register with my brain. Especially since there
are still plenty of RWD cars with traditionally mounted engines! There
may be a new trend, but the tradition has not changed.
It seems you have a problem accepting that the front of the engine is
not always toward the front of the car. Why does this bother you so?
Let me ask you this: Is the front of your radio the portion directly
opposite the button face, deep in the netherworld of the dash? Of
course not! Just because it's oriented the same way as the front of the
car doesn't make it the front of the radio! I have never seen buttons
on the back of my radio, even though the buttons are on the side of the
radio that faces the back of the car.
Also, I'm curious if you believe your horn control is on the front or
the back of your steering wheel? To be consistent I suppose you would
answer the back?
Does this make any more sense to you? I'm so confused.
Some things are best just left alone. If it ain't broke don't fix it!
Oh, and with your new "standard", you remove other standards. The
pulleys would reside on the front of some cars, on the side of others.
You're simply trying to replace one well-known, established standard
with another.
It's useless. There are many who think the way I do, there are many who
think the way you do. Logistically, the front of the engine will always
mean the same thing, no matter the orientation. You can refer to the
front of your engine as the part with with oil pan attached for all I
care ;^)

See, there you go, using the word "traditionally". This is the 21st
century and the new "tradition" is FWD automobiles.
When do we break "tradition" and use new terminology that makes sense??
Traditions should not be used for 'traditions-sake', they should be used
because they still hold true and make sense. In this case they don't.
