I did not read the article that you read and followed when you Burnished
your pads but reading your statement below, you waited a week before doing
anything. Maybe you should have burnished them right away?

Here are the Brake Pad Burnishing Instructions from Hawk Performance:

1. After installing new brake pads, make 6 to 10 stops from approximately
30-35 mph applying moderate pressure.

2. Make additional 2 to 3 hard stops from approximately 40 to 45 mph.

3. DO NOT DRAG BRAKES!

4. Allow 15 minutes for break system to cool down.

5. After step 4 your new brake pads are ready to use.

I have these street pads on both a Vette and a Ford Ranger pickup and I have
had NO problems at all. I also followed this when I replaced my pads and
rotors on my SHO using rotors made in China ($20 each) and have not had any
rotor problems at all.

Following the above instructions your rotors will be black, hot has hell,
even smoking, and you can smell the pads. After the cool down period is you
do any heavy braking you'll be recoating the rotors with pad material that
you washed off when you washed the car. I find that the hotter these pads
get the better they work.

I don't have the 96 upgrade on my 95 SHO (yet). I am not sure if Hawk makes
a pad for the 96 SHO's rotors but if they do that's the pad I'm going with.
They are great for both street and track, both road racing and AutoXing.
