[Shotimes] Ticking/oil leak

After the last discussion about front or rear I don't know what the hell
to say - just joking. What I can say is I hear it from the top of the
motor and I really hear it while in the drivers seat. I feel like I'm
really wasting your guy's time! Been talking to Josh S. a little more
and I hope we can hook up pretty soon - and again I'll keep you and the
list filled in.

Usually a bad bearing (rod) causes a knocking sound... i've never heard
one
so I don't know... I would imagine it's different then your ticking
noise.
And as far as a problem deeper in the engine, i don't think i'd know..
i've
yet to get that deep in one, as I don't have my own personal garage
where i
can do whatever work i want. Valve covers down to the cams is about as
far
down as i have down engine work... If it's a shim out of spec, like
loose,
I can't imagine it's only make the ticking at about 2500 rpm. the cam
lobe
might be smacking down on the shim but i would think it'd always be
doing
that and not just at about 2500 rpm. try just using an ear next to the
valve cover and see what you hear.. can you tell if it's coming from the
front or rear?
