The best code reader to buy, assuming it is OBD-II, which I think it is,
because my 94 mustang is, and even though OBD-II wasn't a standard until
1996, I think Ford started switching early...
anyhow... blah blah blah...
The best is what you will want. I mean, if you plan on working on your own
cars, constantly, then the cost of a VERY good code reader will be offset by
the savings that you will have, over taking your car somewhere to have it
diagnosed.
there I go again... blah blah blah...
anyhow, going with the best, woudl be what Ford Dealerships use. right? I
would think so.
this is what you want.
New Generation Star code scanner
sometimes simply called an NGS.
made by Hickok Inc.
can be found, in deatiled description at
http://www.hickok-inc.com/ngs/ngsflash.html
http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=2412251783&category=6754
there's even one on ebay
this one is going high though. I woudl avoid it. I have seen them for as
little as $900 on ebay.
it depends on what you want to do with the tester.
I mean, if you wanna operate your evap system remotely, to test, or other
things liek that, it's just palin sick abotu what all it can do.
you can monitor rpms, shift solenoids, speed... stuff liek that.
it's a wicked toy.
