[Shotimes] MAF/airbox question!

Another silly question.
 
I replaced my MAF yesterday.  I put a stock but polished one on, really
for no good reason at all.  Just for the heck of it!
 
I had never noticed that the 3 "legs" where the MAF sits on the upper
airbox are threaded, and there are 3 corresponding holes in the upper
airbox, until yesterday.  I don't have screws, though.  Must've been
removed before I bought the car.
 
Are these so important that I should even worry about replacing them?
I'd had to *hope* I got the right thread, install them, and a short time
later hear them busting through the MAF screen and ratting around my
intake and heads!
