I agree, I do NOT see any modern engine plant messing around with that as
the Detroit mfrs did in the old days. If a crank is out of spec, it's like
any other out-of-spec part......it's in the trash. In the long run, the
extra parts & labor to make a bad part "work" is too expensive, that's all
manual labor that slows down the efficient mechanized assembly process.

I've worked with the Japanese extensively over the past 10 years. They don't
make mistakes, at least officially. Having and using non-standard bearings
at the factory would be an admission of failure, IMHO. I can't see it
happening.
