It's not necessarily a bad idea.  I don't know if motor oil is good enough for initial lube since we always used something else, but having it on the back of the bearing won't matter.  The bearing has tabs that hold it in place.  When the engine is running I assure you that there is plenty of oil on the back side of the bearing.
