That was the GN34 mid-engined sports car that Ford was to manufacture in France. The dollar took a dump and the car would have cost way too much to sell here. It was killed, but they had a contract with Yamaha to build engines. It ended up in a Taurus. But it was not the exact same engine that was to go into the GN34. That was supposed to be a 5 valve/cylinder engine. And, I'm sure, tuned to work with a car that was at least 1000lbs lighter than the pigs we drive. That engine might have had 300hp, but ours was never a 300hp engine. Ever. Ever. Ever. Live with it. I have for 13 years...

No. No proof ever came out, other than it being a rumor from 14 years ago.

A Yamaha engine was going to go into Ford's 2-seater Corvette fighter that
never saw the light of day, then someone came up with the idea to satisfy
the Yamaha contract by putting a motor into the Taurus. Could have been that
before the SHO project that there was going to be something more substantial
for a 2-seat sportscar, but then the 300 HP rumor never said the motor was
n/a, either.

The rumor went away at least 10 years ago, but I guess that newer SHO folks
just pick up the BS from somewhere.

Of course everything you said is correct, but it is going beyond the
original subject. That subject being was there ever a 300HP yamahammer?
