I've spent a lot of time weighing various SHO's, and have been on various
scales with various cars.
My 92 was 3380 lbs (empty tank) with SFC's and heavier 96 brakes. Car is
fully optioned. Figure 3500 lbs with a full tank of gas.
My 89 (stripper, no option, no sunroof, manual power seat, manual HVAC, etc)
was 3180 lb bone stock (lace wheels, etc) on an empty tank. Figure 3300 lb
with a full tank of gas. (the 3180 lb weight was a a local scale, the next
week I weighed it at the drags with me in the car at 3330 lb A/C delete at
that point, 1/4 tank) Those weights are very accurate, and back up what the
car weighed on longacre corner weight scales at the convention (3160 lbs
with a full tank, slightly heavier (20 lbs) wider open track tires/wheels,
and back-seat installed. Dry on street tires with no backseat, would be
around 3000 lb, which is what I figured (maybe slightly more, but I seem to
keep adding "HD" track parts that keep picking up the weight :)
FWIW my buddies 91 LX 5.0L MTX hatchack was 3160 on the same scale my 89 SHO
weighed in at 3180. Keep in mind with a 19 gallon tank, you can add over
100 lbs with a full fuel tank. Doesn't matter if you weigh with or without,
as long as you do it the same way each time for consistancy.
