Hi again Carl,

In reference to what you posted below, by MTL do you mean manual tranny lube?
(as you may remember) I have an '89, so I guess I have the brass synchros.
I've been reading in recent posts about using ATF in manual trannies. I don't
think that whatever lube was originally in my gearbox was ever changed. Ok,
so now to my questions; Should I drain it and replace the lubricant? If yes,
then whats my best choice of lube? (68k on the clock and under 5k a year
useage)

Thanks, Bob (BB-NYC '89)

IIRC, sometime in 1992 or 1993 a change was made to the MTX-IV to replace
the synchro design from brass to paper. In the original design, Redline
MTL was a good choice to improve the shift feel of the tranny, but with
the newer synchros, the new fluid didn't really make any difference. In
fact, I am using normal fluid in my tranny (has new synchros) and it feels
just fine.
