[Shotimes] rod bearings

1.  V8's used to wear rod bearings just like everything else.  It was 
unheard of for the average engine to go 150k miles without some kind of 
rebuild.  Some did but most didn't.
2.  Auto trans. usually don't lug the engine.  When you push on the throttle 
they will downshift.
3.  Diesels are built for this kind of use.
