Uh, right.  I was taught that the "hammering" feeling of lugging an engine
is caused by the pistons suddenly trying to go a lot faster than the
crankshaft.
Cruising at 1K, it's easy to romp on it and have the pistons/rods suddenly
trying to go 3-4 times faster.
Cruising at 3K, it's not so easy to have the pistons/rods suddenly trying to
go 9K.   ;-)    At least not in a SHO.  Theoretically I guess you could get
a Honda S2000 to lug at 3000 RPMs.   :o

Again, just cruising is not the problem, but trying to gain
speed with a LOT of throttle at very low rpms.
