Larger valves will help for any engine with cam and intake to take advantage 
of them.  In a 2-valve engine, the valves can only increase so much because 
the cylinder diameter limits the size of the valves.  A 4-valve engine will 
flow more which is why almost all current performance engines are at least 
4-valve.

Whereas larger ports and intakes affect low end performanceI don't think 
larger valves hurt anything.
