I have wanted to do this for a while.  This company, http://www.kwmuth.com ,
once made led mirrors for the gen2's but they said Ford started using two
different brands of mirror guts and that they couldn't tell which one you
might have so they stopped offering them.  Looks like a good bit of work,
but I might try it some time.

Here's a neat mod that puts turn signal arrows in the mirror with some leds
and cost less than $20 for both mirrors.

You also cannot tell they are there if the turn signal is not on.
